I have to agree. It's almost three years since launch, and there still hasn't been an update to add folders, change the sizes of the game icons, or organize said icons freely (instead of the "most recent" sorting that it uses). Hell, we still don't even have any new themes aside from the default black and white ones, and there hasn't been a character profile icon update since Kirby Star Allies last year.

I do love how open and blunt he is with Nintendo, even though they're funding Bayonetta 3.

Its true. Its not the worst menu, I like the aesthetics of it, but it has zero customizable options beyond white or black.

It's like Nintendo got worse and worse with UI concepts for each new console since the friggin Wii back in 2008. The Switch is now the culmination of their worst aspects.

True.

-No themes except for two very basic ones. (The 3DS allowed for many themes).
-No way to organize your games freely (Wii, 3DS, and Wii U all allowed you to do this, and the latter two even had folders to use).
-No way to resize the game icons (3DS did this, and I believe the Wii U was able to as well).
-No messaging of friends (again, the Wii could do this; 3DS could via Swapnote and Swapdoodle; and Wii U was able to via Miiverse while it was still live).
-Reverting to Friend Codes, when the Wii U wisely abandoned them for standard usernames.

It's the best menu IMO, but it could use some themes and alternate ways of organizing your games. I love how simple and quick it is. Overall it's much better than 3DS or Wii U menus

There's something underrated about simplicity. It's why I LOVED the blades theme of the Xbox 360. Yeah, you still had customization, but it was simple. The UI ran well. There was no lag. The operating system was perfect.

Then Microsoft changed it. Got rid of it and in favor for a more heavy interface which bogged down resources and it became laggy.

Cherish the simplicity of the menu. It's not lagging. It's simple.

At least it's inoffensive. It doesn't have the convenience options, but it's insanely fast, which is pretty much the only thing that matters to me.

It is really annoying how you can't organize the game icons in any way. It took forever for the 3DS to get themes, so I imagine we'll eventually get them for the Switch too.

No. Though I admit having the ability to organize the menu and have the games you want in the order you want isn't going to bog down the UI or OS. So, I'd be cool with that.

How do you boot up the games or add friends?

I literally don't add friends on Switch so lol

As for booting up games, I just press the A button or whatever after I load it in. It's pretty simple.
