It's just an interactive movie. Beat it once and you'll never glance at it again.

Don't get me wrong I was hooked from start to finish but I paid full price for 12 hours of enjoyment and I don't think I'll ever play it again.

Not every game needs to be a 1300 hour endless fetch quest generator

Id gladly pay full price for an expertly crafted 12 hour experience.

Also this interactive movie shit is embarrassing. The second a video game elevates itself by telling a decent story and having proper characters gamers become old men yelling at clouds. Im old enough to remember a time when it was pretty good for a game to maybe have a single text box at the beginning explaining some complete bullshit and nonsense while your 3 pixel avatar size scrolled his way through a couple levels. We got one game a year if we were lucky and thats the best they can do.

Now we have absolutely amazing experience and gamers dismiss them with shit like $60 for a 12 hour interactive movie? This is horseshit

idk man. Some people cant see how good we have it.

That's all fine and dandy but the gameplay is never more than serviceable all the way through, and only exists to complement the story and not the other way around.

Exercise caution when handling these takes. They are extremely hot.

I'd give it an 8/10, mostly on presentation.

The story wasn't as great as gamers made it out to be. The gameplay was just okay. The presentation was good.

God of War was an infinitely better experience all around, though.

If you removed the story, you'd still be shooting at zombies. "It's just an interactive movie" is an objective wrong take. Does a game with a good story need to have mindblowing gameplay to be considered a game?

Hm? That's a very normal take for the game.

Tbh, I don't remember enough about the gameplay mechanics to argue about it, so I won't say I have a strong opinion about it (and feel free to dismiss it). But, personally, the gameplay didn't leave a lasting impression, and I have not strong desire to ever play the game again.

I remember the stealth being pretty fun and the shooting being okay. But I can think of other games that, imo, have much more engaging stealth and shooting. I think the overall gameplay experience is good, comparable in fun to Tomb Raider, but better than the earlier Uncharted games.

I think I was most impressed by its animation and graphical fidelity of the time. That first gameplay trailer where Jole, Ellie, and the enemies fight around the environment was hard to believe at the time.

The Last of Us Part II is going to achieve the same accolades and make a shit-ton of money and there's not a damn thing you can do about it.

*shrug*

I don't really care if it makes money. The only games I would actively want to fail are games that are offensively bad.

The Last of Us was overrated, it wasn't bad.

Ignore @SwayM natural selection bias. When he likes something he'll over dramatize and use whatever fallacy he can conjure up to make things look Godly and the same for the things he doesn't like.

The Last of Us is just another game that falls heavily under the guise of "Grand Presentation" and every casual is falling for it. The game obviously suffers almost everything in favor for its gimmicky artsy attributes.

Basically this. The game was generic but it was fun, and people obviously overrate the living shit out of it. It's their Fight Club to video games.

This.

A game can be overrated and not be bad. Its not the GOAT like some people claim it to be. Fun game and great story but thats about it.

I got it on PS plus for free so it was pretty good. Lots of gathering shit though, kinda seemed like half the time I was just looting. Got a lot of upgrades but had no desire to play through again. I liked the ending but the final area was kinda a letdown.
