The hallmark channel showed an ad featuring a lesbian couple. A hate group got butthurt that gay people were shown on tv and protested, and Hallmark caved in and pulled the ad. They later reversed their decision when people pointed out how stupid it was to agree to the demands of the hate group. The whole series of events ended up being a huge embarrassment to them.

They focus on small towns not cities and it's not really modern either (usually pre-1960 setting or pre-1960 esque setting not ideal for anything diverse in Hallmark tones, which are heartwarming, saccharine, and little to no conflict), at least they aren't super political.

The second one is kind of interesting because that one's about a woman coming from the big city, but she's the one who already knows the meaning of Christmas and she has to teach it to the guy that lives in the small town.

I'm fairly certain Hallmark's main demographic is old white women. Those are the only people I have ever scene discussing the channel.

You may have a few minority women who like the channel, but I think they're outliers, and Hallmark just wouldn't find it profitable to make movies aimed at those groups. I think the same thing goes for the LGBT groups that wanted more representation in Hallmark films or products (of all things). Most of the complaints I saw from people within the LGBT groups, were coming from couples or individuals who never watch the films, but had seen the channel playing at their parents or elderly relatives house.

Yeah, sorry. I don't think Judge Judy would watch a Hallmark movie with an interracial couple. With this generation, anything goes. With older generations, there's only so much you can realistically expect from them.

Judge Judy wouldn't care about interracial couples, but she also just wouldn't watch Hallmark. I feel like she exclusively watches crime documentaries and MMA.

In my experience, crime documentaries and Hallmark tend to go hand in hand. Watch a little murder, watch a little heartwarming sappy love story.

Billboard had a category called "black music" around the time it was created. On top of the content featuring majority black people, most other music genres that were associated with us were either phasing out or didn't have a dedicated station yet on the radio. If y'all have a problem with BET, talk to the white people that run it.

Irish history month is in March. Hispanic heritage, Pacific Islanders, Italians and other cultures have months they have dedicated to them as well.

I have absolutely no problem with BET. I have never had it, but that's because when I had cable I never had any premium channels and now that I don't have cable i don't have access to it. But I have never been unable to enjoy things because they are considered for black people. I like a lot of different things their intended demographic has never been a deciding factor for whether or not I'll enjoy it.
