Man, Xenogears is one of the most overrated games ever. Even by the standards of that time, the gameplay was bland and simplistic and boring. And it's amazing how many people applaud the plot when it's so absolutely poorly written. The stuff with Fei's multiple personalities is nicely done but everything else is the height of anime JRPG nonsense.

Yeah, and then there's this where all the major events of the game are dumbed down into still-pictures and dialogue. I get they ran out of time but I can't give a game credit on what they planned on doing...

Citan is the best character in the game!!!

Best physical fighter? Sure. In terms of a character, he's all over the place on his motivations. Goes from fucking over the party to feeling sorry and helping them on an hourly basis. The fact that he rejoins the party no problem after it's revealed he spied on them the entire time is laughably bad.

what are you playing this on? i can't remember if it was ps1 or ps2, but one of those consoles will make clicking noise when a battle is about to start.

Xenosaga 1 and 3, Xenoblade 1 are dope.

Xenosaga 2 and Xenoblade 2 are steaming piles of dogshit.

Haven't played the Xenosagas, but I will say even though Xenoblade 2's not as good as the first one...I still heavily enjoyed it.

I tried to play it about 12 years ago. I remember getting to a boss that killed me so thoroughly, so completely, and so quickly at first I figured it was a scripted loss until the game over screen. There was nothing I could have done to win that fight without hours and hours of grinding. I never played again.

wondering what boss this could have possibly been. Thought of that early boss fight that secretly required you to buy all available gear upgrades but can't recall it killing that fast

It was evidently going to be asbsurd.

And that's one thing he's definitely right about. It's clearly unfinished. Disc 2 is where it really start to shows.

Gotta say, I don't know if the combat can carry the last 3/4 of the game. That being said, I like everything else a lot more than the combat.
