Half the issue is this xbox controller i got. The x button placement is just wrong, but the shoulder buttons are weird as well

Anyway it just gave me a rot sculpture. Im assuming thats bad and its giving me a tutorial about rot essence

Anyways i keep dying on the first enemy with unblockable attacks
It keeps doing some unblockable sweep thing and i keep fumbling the dodge
But also i cant stagger it or break its stance

Id do way better with a ps4 controller

Anyways im probably going to restart since its probably autosaved this rot bullshit

Rot is normal

your first playthrough youll get a lot of dragon rot so dont bother restarting

also get out of the habit of dodging. This isnt dark souls anymore. You want to practice doing perfect deflects. You need to be aggressive with enemies, and deflect when you see an attack coming. Also get in the habit of jumping the sweep.

Finally beat him, just had to man up and get agressive rather than wait for him to attack and try to counter

Now do that for the majority of the bosses and you should Be fine
