Only an internet niche would believe obesity is healthy, but plenty more think it's not a big deal, on the basis of everyone around them also being obese.

The problem is that some people preach "Healthy at all sizes" which is (mostly) true, but then think that's an argument to say "I'm healthy at my current size", which is usually not true.

Also lots of folks truly believe that they aren't obese. They just think they're a little bit overweight. It's fucking weird.

It's also more profitable to make cheap food with cheap ingredients that gives people chronic health problems and require doctors, medication, and health insurance. Billions of dollars to be made by taking advantage of customers from birth to death. It's all mass planned conditioning and propaganda.

IDK

I almost think so, since a lot of people tell me I'm "too skinny" right now, but I still have a bit of a ponch and could stand to lose 20-30 pounds.

Have to hard disagree with this mentality. An overweight body is nowhere close to an indication of good overall health. If you're fat, you either eat way too many carbs, you never exercise, you have hormone imbalances (insulin, testosterone, estrogen, cortisol), you drink too much alcohol, or any combination of those together.

At least speaking from an office perspective, in the US it can be considered very offensive if you make fun of somebody's weight. Not that far off from making fun of somebody's sexuality or race in some cases. So a lot of times weight is just not discussed at all in polite conversation. Every sane person understands that being overweight is unhealthy though.

How do you determine what is overweight? BMI is not accurate, nor are weight scales in terms of body composition. Everyone has a different 'ideal' size, which is why it is difficult to know how much a person has to weigh, consume, or exercise. Typical 'ideal' measurements are just the average 'ideal,' - not the ideal per person.

For example, I am a bigger person. Even before I gained weight, I was still larger framed - I was able to keep up physically with others who had 'ideal' BMI's in activities, despite weighing much more than them. My father is the same way, as was his father.

With that, I will mention that since adopting a more sedimentary life style, I have gained weight and am overweight currently.

I find it weird how people get hung up on other people being overweight. It literally has nothing to do with you or your life. It affects you in no way whatsoever. If they want to be fat and risk health issues, why do you care? Honest question.

You can very easily determine if a person is overweight simply by looking at them. If they have a large belly, they are either overweight or pregnant. BMI uses a person's height divided by their weight to calculate their overall mass, which includes lean muscle tissue, fat tissue, fluid mass and bone mass. BMI does not directly measure the levels of fat itself, but it is a general indicator of various levels of adiposity. A 5'2" female that is 120 lbs and a 6'4" male that is 180 lbs are totally different in terms of size, but both have the exact same healthy BMI of 21.9, which is in the middle of the normal range for their respective sizes.

In contrast, two males that are the same height of 6'0" where one weighs 165 and the other 225, their respective BMIs are 22.4 (normal healthy BMI) and 30.5 (borderline obese), which are two totally different leagues. I know because I felt the difference, I was at both of these stages in the past year. I was sedentary for a long time, hated how I looked in the mirror, and felt awful constantly... headaches, migraines, cramping, muscle twitching, and always felt bloated. I could still do my job or everyday tasks as well as others, but it didn't exactly make me feel the greatest. So I totally changed my eating habits and lifestyle, started at 225 in January and ended up at 165 by June, and have been maintaining that weight to this day. I eat less carbs, I don't smoke, I only drink alcohol socially on rare occasions, I eat plenty of organic meats and produce, I take all kinds of supplements like ACV and electrolytes, and I do both cardio and weight lifting. I feel amazing and would never go back to what I was before.

I take my health and nutrition very seriously because my dad is suffering. In the past 2 years he's gotten stage 4 brain cancer and had 2 tumors removed, a pulmonary embolism and heart surgery. He neglected his body for years with poor quality food and almost no exercise for years, and he's dying before he's even 60 years old.

I've learned a lot about health and nutrition and I want to go to school to become certified with a degree, so I can help people avoid ending up like my dad, and it pisses me off that people just don't give a flying fuck about their bodies, and turn a blind eye to what is going on around them with millions of other people in the same situation as them. Just because millions of people are overweight and have shit diets and need more medications than fingers on their hands, doesn't mean that's normal in the slightest.

And I know this is bait, but there actual people out there with this exact mentality, and it pisses me off.

One guy that I work with on a daily basis is in his late 30's and well over 400 lbs and he just doesn't give a fuck about his life. He chugs liters of soda every day and survives off burgers, fried chicken, pizza, potato chips, candy and subs. I've never seen him so much as eat a salad or drink a bottle of water in the 7 years that I've worked with him. He walks so slow and has to sit down to rest after climbing stairs, but getting up out of a chair is also painful for him... but I don't feel sorry for him one bit, because he made the choices himself to live how he does. He knows exactly what he does is killing him, but eating tons of cheap food makes him feel good, like his problems just magically disappear... until he gets hungry again. And it's a vicious cycle that never ends, until you change your eating habits and lifestyle entirely. He's extremely lucky he hasn't had a major medical incident yet.

The problem with this nation is that there is no emphasis on learning basic aspects of every day life. You don't learn finances, politics, carpentry and handiwork or nutrition in schools. You are taught to pass tests, not learn about things that you will use in the day-to-day adult world that is constantly evolving. You are taught to follow orders and be an employee, a public servant to the working force. And also like I said earlier, people see the millions of other obese or sick people in the same situation as them, so they think that it's normal and nothing is wrong with them, and eating or doing drugs or drinking to feel better for a fraction of a day does nothing to solve what's wrong in the rest of your life. They are stuck in a self-created pit of loathing that cannot be escaped unless they choose to want to do better.
