Would you rather have a Native American or a Woman as the US president?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the US has never had any of these aforementioned choice, right?

That said, which one would you rather have as the president?

EDIT:
- Both have the same views and ideas
- There is no other candidate, only these two

Yeah that would be interesting, but I want to see what would people prefer over the other. That's s why I didn't include a choice for both.

I've heard someone mention that Pocahontas is running. I'd be all for a time traveling Native American woman as President.

So you would vote according to charisma and presence rather than the racial impact a candidate would have over the people? Still, I can see the point of not wanting race to be a defining cause.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that be like saying "I'd rather vote on charisma rather than vote for racial reasons neglecting the effect it would have on the people and the country"?

I'm not trying nor it's my purpose to be aggressive or anything.

honestly, my general plan of action is that if i'm happy (or unhappy) with both options, i lend my vote to a third party since i'm less concerned about the outcome relative to a particular candidate

this has never happened though

As a Native American myself it would be immensely empowering to see a Native American president.

I'm extremely doubtful it will ever happen in my lifetime though.

YES! Comments like these are exactly the ones that everybody has to consider before going into trivial aesthetics like charisma, this indifference denies them of their right.

How come there hasn't ever been a native american president? They've been in their land longer than anyone, if anything, they would have greater rights for candidate consideration than anyone.

Native Americans, much like blacks and hispanics have been systematically marginalized. Indigenous peoples have had it particularly rough because the US government purposefully separated the tribes ensuring there would not be factions allying against the government. The US at the same time was frantically expanding West killing Indians and Mexicans indiscriminately in the name of independence. Native communities are still very detached from what is going on in the United States as a country.

It's almost 2020 and we are barely seeing indigenous people of my generation entering American politics successfully.

identity politics like this is... about as important as charisma

without knowing anything about their respective policies, there's no reason to believe either would have a significant effect on the lives of the marginalized people they represent -- the indigenous MPs in Canada, for instance, haven't stopped the construction of the pipeline that's going across indigenous land. they haven't brought clean drinking water to the reserves that didn't previously have it

to use a US example: Obama instituted some shitty quarter-of-the-way-there healthcare, but aside from that he wasn't significantly different from any previous president. he's just another wealthy asshole. the native american would probably be a similar case

For me it doesn't matter if the person is a Native American or a woman. I'd rather have anyone that's sane, does not have Narcissistic Personality Disorder, has an attention span longer than a goldfish, has respect for the rule of law and our governmental institutions, and is not the 3rd gen head of a white collar crime family.

Hopefully one day people can stop making decisions based on race or sex or label or any of that junk and just make decisions based on whats actually best.
