Not sure what the actual term is but whatever, I'm talking about the guys who listen to people like Ben Shapiro, Jordan Peterson, Elon Musk, random youtubers, etc. etc. and adopt their views entirely as their own. Like I'm not even saying what these guys think or do is bad/wrong but the idea of letting some mildly charismatic internet talky guy do your thinking for you is just gross.

This comes up because my room mate and I had a debate about some "issue" that was supposedly a big deal in the conservative party right now and he had the upper hand. Afterwards I was curious about the state of the party wide debate since I don't follow politics and after googling around it turns out he was just regurgitating the spiel of one of these guys verbatim.

Honestly I thought men were supposed to be stupidly individualistic to the point they run off of their own thoughts and ideas regardless of how bad they might end up being, what happened to that?

Thinking takes effort and stupid people want people to think for them either by choice or by deception.

Looking for something to follow. Based on their beliefs they liked what they heard. Depends on their intelligence they may not think critically.

I believe that all attempts to think for someone else is wrong. You can teach them how to think but not control their thoughts and actions. That's evil and sets other people up for failure.

Parrots can imitate....

Hopefully, the people really agrees with what the other guy is saying. If that person has researched after the video... then they're actually passionate. But if all their knowledge comes from just that one source.... beware that person or pity them because that is a fool.

People looking for something to follow. When you take religion out of the equation people will turn to politics, and orators. For some people these things are the same thing (politics and religion) but for others the lack of one thing leads them into the other.

What does it look like when someone lets somebody else think for them? Struggling to imaging what/who youre referring to

Some people don't find their egos imperiled to stand on the shoulders of giants. It was good enough for Stephen Hawking, why shouldn't it be good enough for your room mate?

I think most of them are disillusioned by a society that disparages their place in the world. Their accomplishments are misguidedly belittled as privileged even by people who grew up in the same communities, went to the same schools and are otherwise their contemporaries. I think many people would be flabbergasted for their coworker to one day turn around saying you didn't deserve or earn or work hard enough to get where you're at.

"The Man" isn't supposed to refer to your peers. When faced with overwhelming unreasonableness it isn't a wonder that people turn to any voice that speaks to them.
