Not Impeaching is what would kill Democrats, as that would basically be saying "Everything Trump did was fine". Staying silent is little different from approval. With that out of the way, we don't impeach presidents as a move for political gain. We impeach presidents because we believe and would like the opportunity to establish that they are unfit for office. So, we have a moral and legal imperative to impeach. Not impeaching shows that the entire government truly is completely useless at the job it has set out to do. Impeachment in this case will more than likely show that one very specific aspect of our government, the Republican bloc of the Senate, is the real issue of uselessness.
