Board 8 > Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is incredibly stressful

I'm probably about 2/3s of the way through the game, and I had to take a break. I got to the four shard trials, played through the maze and swamp sections, and got really distressed. Been playing it at night with every light off in an attempt to be fully immersed.

It's easy enough to pause the game and keep going after a few minutes, but playing this game all the way through would be pretty difficult. The game isn't even hard (except the fucking swamp maze where the fire is chasing you), it's just tough to handle mentally.

Is that supposed to be the point? Like, yeah you get to pause and take a break from all the confusion and noise, but Senua doesn't.

Really interesting game so far. I'm enjoying it despite the stress.

Its sort of the point yeah. The game is supposed to simulate dealing with a mental illness. I just cant remember which specific illness it was.

It's Psychosis

Beat it last night. This is probably the scariest game I've played. It's not a jump scare kind of thing, but a psychological horror thing. Super effective at stressing you out and giving you anxiety over what's happening.

beat it over the weekend. I have similar thoughts.
i found the gameplay to be a bit of chore but as a whole it was a great experience.

Definitely should. The intro is probably the weakest part of the game at giving the intended experience. Once you make it to the first two trials (Surtr and Valravn), then the game picks up. Shouldn't take much more than 20-30 minutes to get there.

After that, there are definitely some places where a puzzle or a fight will be frustrating, but it's not the worst thing in the world.
