Funny People is his last movie I liked. People say it was too long. But I watched it 3 times and never felt that way. But that was what? 06?

Im not against giving him another shot. He seems like a good dude. Just not a consistent movie maker.

Are we talking about that gangster movie that Adam Sandler is in? I would hardly call that an Adam Sandler movie. That's sort of like calling Suicide Squad a Will Smith movie just because he is a cast member. I was always under the impression that to be an "X movie" they had to be the definitive lead.

His seriousness in Funny People was captivating as well. He really sold being a frustrated sick person.

To be fair, there are two understandable reasons most Sandler movies suck:

He has a specific audience of fans he continues to cater to and entertain, and he wants to keep making movies with his friends so they can keep making money.

He's done several critically acclaimed performances though, and definitely has deserved award recognition at times.

Honestly on the internet it is "cool" to say you hate Adam Sandler movies, because in real life there are very few people whom I've met who didn't like Happy Gilmore.

Like comedy has to be smart, fuck that. Billy Madison is funny as fuck.

I'm not saying he hasn't had a few stinkers like "Grown Ups" and more recent stuff but 90s Sandler was the hilarious and he was even more funny on SNL.

At least he came from an era of SNL that was actually funny. There's like 1 funny person on SNL right now.

I think it's fair to say Sandler has tarnished his own legacy with all of these shit movies he's released but it's not completely implausible or surprising that he could still make a good movie. That being said, he had no hand in the direction or production of Uncut Gems.

Theres a relatively new movie out on netflix with him and Jennifer Anniston where they have to solve a murder mystery on a cruise. I hate Adam Sandler with a passion but that movie was legitimately hilarious and I would highly recommend it.

So they don't understand when he's trying hard to do something different and is good at it, that it's okay to actually think it's good

Punch Drunk Love is the worst Adam Sandler movie. PTA is a terrible director. Never enjoyed anything by him.

Sandler is legit a decent to good serious actor.

It's just those roles don't pay the money his shitty comedy movies do and he doesn't get the recognition for it.

Yeah this pretty much. You know why those movies keep getting made? Because he is a hack. But the thing about hacks is they are likeable and fun to be around. You get to hang out go on vacation and get payed to be silly. Same reason people like making movies with Michael Bay, except less silly and more feeling like a cool guy.

Geniuses are not fun to work with at all. They are overly controlling and have to do things their way all the time. But they end up making better movies.
