Superman 2 by far.

I've seen Superman: The Movie twice, once in theaters, and I found it boring. Superman 2 was fun because it was more comic-like and had villains of Superman's own power level to contend with.

In Superman: The Movie, they wanted to go with a wide screen resolution the likes of Lawrence of Arabia to show that this was an epic film worthy of the audience's respect. In the sequel, they had a more compressed resolution with greater color saturation to resemble a comic panel. I much appreciated that improvement as the film just feels more alive. In general, I'm not a fan of serious comic movies. Joker is the only one so far that I've enjoyed. I prefer superheroes as fantastic characters battling dinosaurs, robots, and mutants and having galleries of colorful costumed characters.

I've developed a begrudging respect for Superman: The Movie over the years, mostly after seeing the night and day difference in characterization between Superman and Man of Steel, but I still think of superheroes as extensions of Saturday morning childhood entertainment. When I want drama, I want real people in real situations. When I want superheroes, I want the fantastic and the unreal.

That's just my take on superheroes.

My opinion:

DC has the better characters.
Marvel has the better approach.

Spider-Man is really the only Marvel character I care about. So, I watch DC movies and then criticize them for taking themselves too seriously. Or I enjoy them and listen to everyone else complain about how they weren't serious enough for DC standards. In the realm of comics, I'm really left without any sort of permanent allegiance.

The MCU movies have made me fans of Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, and Robert Downey Jr., but that hasn't translated to me being fans of the characters they played. If there was a franchise reboot, I couldn't see myself being excited about a new Iron Man movie that didn't star RDJ.

I've only seen two of the new Star Wars movies. I kinda enjoyed them. I think Jyn was a more entertaining protagonist than Rey and the complete house cleaning of old characters leaves me a little uninterested in moving forward with the series.

You know, despite considering myself something of a Superman fan, I've never actually seen Superman 1-4.

The first one. I like that it's as much about the idea and mythos of Superman as it is the actual story. It just has a magic that's not there as much in the second one (as good as it is)

My original? I closed it almost a decade ago.

But my usual one got warned for a tasteless joke, lol.
