But why is it bad to excuse that? People who dont want kids shouldnt have them. Myself, personally, aside from not wanting to bring a new person into a crazy, fucked up world, I also just dont think Im good enough to raise anyone.

I dunno. I think about how in my parent's or grandparent's day they could literally drop out of high school (or even middle school in the case of the latter) and be guaranteed a steady job for life with benefits, a good pension. Enough to buy their own home, multiple vehicles, vacations every year, etc.

These days people with university degrees can't find employment (decent degrees too, not just liberal arts or some shit). I know so many people that are unemployed and fighting with thousands of others just to get a bottom feeder minimum wage job, lots of people working multiple temp or part time jobs. Automation is ramping up. Homelessness is reaching pretty epic proportions. Lots of people are waiting up to a decade or more to leave home or moving back in with their parents later on.

Social programs and pensions are already struggling. It's been said by the time I retire there won't really be anything left (less people paying into these things as well). I see tons of elderly men and women on the streets every day as well, is that the new reality?

I don't give a damn about global warming or "muh Russia, muh China" or whatever. I just think if I were to have a kid today, are they going to be able to make a life for themselves in 20-25 years? Because the trend seems to be people having to scrape by with less and less year after year.

The way people on here talk, I figure everyone must have a six figure salary working a cushy job or some shit. It ain't like that where I live.

Personally, after having experience adopting a foster daughter, I think having children of my own would be a cruel joke when as an adult I barely can keep my own life from falling apart.

I don't think that anyone should have kids for any reason if they don't want to. Just because two people want to have sex and/or committed to each other doesn't obligate them to have children. If two people think they don't want children then, yes, they are better off not to do so for whatever reason. Because as you already stated too, there's plenty that don't give it consideration and end up being inadequate as parents.

I think the "this fucked up world" is just a doomsday mentality of younger generations who feel they are in a bad place already. The world has and probably always will be "fucked up". No different for my parents, my grandparents, etc.

Yes I am guilty of saying it but I am also honest enough to mention that isn't the only or even biggest reason I don't want kids. I don't want kids because im selfish. I don't want to sacrifice my free time and money to raise a kid.
