I'll stand up for the DLC and the season pass treatment and say that people always want more stuff in FGs. I'd take seasons with big rebalance patches & DLC that you can choose to get or not, or get individually, over new versions every year or two. It's a nice compromise and is generally cheaper unless you buy everything, over buying the same game a few times to keep up.

Or you could be like SFV and do both, I guess.

Fighting style

Bryan fights using a style of Kickboxing. Kickboxing is a popular combat sport that saw fruition in Japan in the 1960s. Kickboxing's punching techniques are almost identical to that of regular boxing, with kicking techniques being the aspect of the sport that differentiates itself from the latter, being an important part of a practitioner's arsenal. Elbow and knee motions also have heritage in the martial art Muay Thai, also defined as kickboxing in it's broader term. Bryan's kickboxing is not strictly traditional, with him putting his own sadistic twist on certain moves, notably the Fisherman's Slam. Many moves are also derived from Karate techniques.

Bryan Fury replaced Bruce Irvin, so they share many similarities, such as their nationality, fighting style, a single win animation (which Bryan no longer has from Tekken 4 and onwards), and an involvement with and hatred of Lei Wulong. Despite these facts, there is no confirmed relationship between the two in the storyline.

And there are certainly a few I might be missing. But I do think it's clear Bryan is taken from Bruce a decent amount. But perhaps none of the flashiest moves? (no snake edge vs no multi part throws)

The one huge difference Bruce and Bryan that is missing that Hwoa/Baek and Jin/Kaz are missing is... lore.

There's basically no story connection between them whatsoever. Not even their key enemies. (Bruce vs Lei? and Bryan vs Yoshi)

No, it's not but Tekken has done this before.

Introducing new characters as a way of balancing old ones admittedly does keep the series fresh.

I like the new character. He reminds me of Tony Jaa in The Protector.
