I've seen some people stack their DVDs/Blu-rays on top of each other (with the cases laying horizontal instead of vertical like books on a shelf)

My question: doesn't this hurt the discs at the bottom of the stack? And how much weight does it take to flatten the case and therefore possible hurt the disc inside?

What about steelbook cases-are they safer?

Bluray: probably not
DVD: maybe, but probably not
CD: that's why the jewell-cases are hard, and there's usually a booklet in there.

If theyre in the cases it should make any difference, Blu-Ray/DVD cases light and if the disc holders are intact the discs should be fine.

Lol I have stacked DVD cases and blu-ray cases for years with no issues. You'd have to put some pretty decent weight on them to damage the disc

I suppose if you stacked a few thousand of them, you may get to crush-weight on the bottom - assuming the pile doesn't fall over long before then.

I stack my Playstation games like this and its fine. Just don't stack it a yard tall and pull a game from the bottom.
