How long does it take to recharge a Tesla? Looks like our infrastructure isn't caught up with electric cars yet >_>

Gasoline powered cars suck ass so it's great that electric cars are taking off

That said I'm waiting for the technology for the batteries to improve and for our infrastructure to get caught up

I didnt even know Tesla recharging stations were a thing. I guess I just always pictured people charging at home. I bet none exist in my state though. Maybe in 10 years

Depends on the age of the battery, current charge of battery, temperature ect..

In ideal conditions with a brand new battery that's 100% up to quality standard (ie- the vast minority), you plug it in for 5 minutes and get 75 miles.

Electric cars are effectively coal powered cars. The power's gotta come from somewhere.

Coal is used to generate electricity at electric plants. This is just a more efficent way of using carbon emissions than just using gasoline in cars.

What if your region gets power from wind, nuclear, hydro, or some other way like that

Out of that list, I can't think of many, if any (certainly not california) where that's exclusively the case.

Then having fun waiting many times more for power. Coal and steam make electricity waaaaaaaaaaaay faster than wind. Hydro is a decent source of power iirc, but it's super expensive and can damage habitat and environments with the facilities and dams. I'm not sure about Nuclear, but I think it's on par or better. But people don't want nuclear plants due to fear of disaster so they don't make them anymore in the US iirc. Plus we still don't have a way of safely disposing of nuclear waste. It takes 1000's of years before it loses its radioactivity

As for solar, last I checked, it can only utilize 25% of the energy it receives. The other 75% is wasted. It's very inefficient

New reactors produce almost no waste and are ridiculously safe

I'm all for nuclear power. It's a no brainer at this point for countries that afford proper upkeep/regulations on upkeep.
