Graphics are great, Nero is pretty likable as the new protagonist. I like his demon arm, it's proven useful in combat with a lot of enemies and opens up a whole new gameplay style. That's not to say I don't miss Dante, but this new guy is cool too.

Plot is weird, not sure what's going on. I don't know if the 4 Devil May Cry games even have much of a connecting plot. Or I should say 5 DMC games (just got the 5th one in the recent black friday deal)

Too bad he likes that game and not DMC3.

You know what the plot is like, it's kinda like if they tried to redo DMC 2's plot only infinitely better in every way.

It honestly does seem that the plots aren't interconnected. It's even to the point where Capcom can change the order that some games canonically take place under. It's long been assumed that DMC2 was the latest one, now it's DMC5 with 4 taking place after 2.

I'm on mission 9 now with Nero. God this game is good. I was worried that nothing would live up to DMC 3 but DMC 4 is proving to be a swell game.

I hate the enemy design in 4, and don't care for the level design. I never got used to playing as Nero in 4, his moveset didn't do it for me. The exceed timing in 4 is so weird

DMC4 is the game that put me off the franchise.

I liked the game until I found out Nero was Vergil's son, that was pretty lame

This is funny because DMCV acts like it's some huge revelation when it should be completely obvious in 4.

Without posting spoilers, I was led to understand that DMC 2 is the last one in the series in so far as most people consider it non canon so just decide to put it in the distant future of the series.

4 was just okay, imo. V was actually good and brought the series back, imo.

Nah, it was legit considered the last one in the series. I think mostly because of how it ends. (Dante rides a bike into hell and then the credits roll.) Now that it's not the last one we have that plot point unexplained.

Edit: Nevermind. Watching a Leaderboard's timeline video, I forgot about the epilogue that basically spelled out that Dante returned from hell.

I haven't played it but I hear one of the main complaints about 4 is the backtracking the whole game

Yeah, that's legit kind of a problem. But at least you're playing an entirely different character against much more challenging versions of the bosses Nero faced.

Are they more challenging? Ive always shredded through them with Dante. He feels so much stronger than Nero.

Although I was really good at distorting real impact, so that probably has something to do with it

They felt more challenging but also not at the same time, but I attributed that to me being used to the game and Dante having a wider range of attack options. The snake boss took me nearly a dozen tries as Dante though.

It can be overwhelming the first time you switch over, since Dante is such a radically different character. Just when you get used to Nero, BAM, style and weapon switching is dropped on you
