Porky's is the clear progenitor to every raunchy comedy produced in the 80's, possibly beyond. For example, both Revenge of the Nerds and Police Academy were originally going to be much tamer movies until their respective execs said 'make it more like Porky's.'
Kinda unsurprising though that it isn't as fondly remembered today. Even I haven't seen it in years and can't clearly remember it in its entirety. It still holds up for the most part. I just re-watched it two years ago, and it's still one of the funnier comedies. But I can see it getting a lot of backlash for its misogyny. ... Porky's has the same problem as Seinfeld does. It's the progenitor of its style but seen as generic because it's been mimicked into the DNA of the genre.

It was really influential for its time, but it's not surprising that most younger people don't know about it because it never gets played on TV. They'd have to censor or outright cut too many critical scenes. It wasn't subtle at all.
