If your skills are in demand and they won't budge, take them elsewhere.

I can't wait to hear about this from my manager. they're offering full time but I'll get less per hour under the offer. so I want to see if I can flip it.

At my company they just laugh and tell you you're free to pursue employment elsewhere. That way they can get rid of you and hire a replacement for cheaper.

that might be what happens but I know my boss is neurotic about peak season (now). If he's willing to let me walk, kudos to him.

what the recruiter told me is that based on the range for this position, if I go higher, there won't be room for growth in my role. like that affects me. So I won't get a raise later that I already have? cool by me. he basically tipped me that they can go higher.

They came back with a $1.43 bump and cited that they want me to have "room to grow." I feel like they're testing me but all I wanted was my contract rate. They stopped 8 cents short of it.

So you asked for six grand a year and they countered with 2500. Sounds like you shoulda asked for 10.
