Beast Wars, no contest.

Beast Machines had almost no redeeming qualities iirc. It was boring, directionless and they pretty much ruined all the characters outright. I remember being extremely disappointed by it despite initially being amped that they were making a new series and continuation from Beast Wars.

It's like those projects where no one in the original team was involved at all but they got their blessing to use the IP or something. Don't know if that's true but it felt like it.

Beast wars was the best ever

Beast Machines Optimus Primal was just as bad as Megatron. Both were fighting for their own selfish desires without consideration for others.

Optimus Primal basically went on vacation, discovered veganism, then went back home, discovered religion and then tried to force everyone else to convert along with him.

Megatron wanted to end war by having everyone be the same and think the same so there would be no difference of opinion but at the cost of individuality and free will.

Both Optimus Primal and Megatron were equally bad. But as a show, it was ahead of its time.

The writers of Beast Machines were not allowed to watch Beast Wars except for being told the basic character outlines. Beast Machines had to be its own thing instead of relying on Beast Wars even though it was a direct sequel. Thats why it felt so different.

Beast wars was so good. That's not even nostalgia talking, I rewatched it as an adult and it was even better than I remembered.
