Some context: I tend not to talk about religion when I'm out in public. Like, it's one of those I don't really feel comfortable discussing with people I barely know.

With that said, I have some of the most obnoxious co-workers in the world and of all the annoying ticks I get from them, the one of the most annoying is that they've labeled me an Atheist because I refuse to discuss religion and because of some old conversation where I said I don't believe in ghosts.
Often times they'll ask me random shit regarding God/Christianity usually just to get a kick out of how I would answer. I normally just disregard them and go on with my day.

But today, Thanksgiving is around the corner and one of them ask me, "How are you going to spend your Thanksgiving if you don't believe in God? [I wasn't aware that you need to believe in God to celebrate Thanksgiving] What about Christmas?" Her annoying friends are in the back giggling.
And another one is like, "Are your family Atheists too?"

So I decide to throw a curve ball at them today. I tell them, "Actually, I think I'm going to spend the entire weekend praising our lord and savior Satan."
And I think they took me seriously. Because they've been asking all day if I'm being serious and I just say yeah and list off a bunch of wild shit like, how I dance in the woods naked at night, sacrifice goats and have a pentagram tattooed on the spot that's above my stomach but below my chest.

Now they're all awkward and shit around me and one girl is more angrier than the rest. She keeps telling me to "stop joking about stuff like that" and I keep telling her I'm serious.
So now my manager pops in. She's not on the clock yet, but she passes me and she's like, "We need to talk in my office later on" and just walks off.

I'm pretty sure one of those bitches told on me. I'm not that worried. My manager always recognizes me as one of the best workers here, so I doubt I'll get anything worse than a Stern talking to. But still. Shit was kind of funny.

I wonder this everyday. The work environment is toxic as fuck and it's mainly because everybody sit around gossiping, complaining and talking shit about eacher and relaying this information back to one another.
I try to stay away from all of that, opting to, instead, kill time on a dying video game website...

Harassment is really common up here and I've seen people get bullied out of this place. The management team don't do shit about it either. Hell, I've seen a girl get routinely get bullied for months. She went to a supervisor about it and the supervisor fucking gossip that information with everyone and it got back to the people that were fucking with her and started going at her even harder. This place is a shithole and all the people working here are children in adult bodies (me included for doing something like this, I guess).

In an ideal workplace, going to a manager/supervisor should be all it takes to stop stuff like this. Not here!

The only time we have meetings is when the manager plans on telling everyone how bad of a job they're doing.

point out that being a satanist at least acknowledges that god is real, compared to large companies not acknowledging that specific countries has a stranglehold on the profit potential of certain kinds of media. (Tencent for videogames. China for Hollywood movies, does have a large capacita per country mass) fact that someone would go anonymous and blab to some boss makes them look petty as hell.

also, holidays like Christmas is probably one of the most neutral-religious (yet highly commercialized) holidays that even people in countries like China/Japan celebrates it, though the latter is probably more for young children, or as a valentines day-like holiday for couples.

try to point out the lack of exposure from stuff like Kwanza or Hanukkah compared to "Atheists" celebrating Christmas/thanksgiving, outside of religions/cultures. following holidays might not have to be due to religious beliefs, Thanksgiving/Christmas are almost concurrent with each over that television, radio and even shops appears seasonal. who doesn't like stuffing their faces with food? it's basically a special occasion.

Knowing them, they're probably going to slide the goalposts to eventually consider god as "anything that originated from the UK", they'd probably give you eyes if you say any kind of Diety that's in any pantheon (Mythological Greek, Hindu, Buddhist, Norse) or to the obviously parodic like Pastafarianism.

The correct response to ignorance is education. You should just answer that kind of question honestly, or be short and to the point with something like: "I'm not really comfortable discussing my religious beliefs with my co-workers."

At that point, if they keep needling you about it, they become the assholes and you're the one with the complaints to make. It's all about mature communication. Sarcastic quips in response to serious (though rude) questions are usually a bad idea.

That's actually laughable, wow. At that point I would've given them last-minute notice that I was leaving because it's clear they aren't actually concerned about improving the work environment.

And I mean last-minute because from what it seems, you would've been harrassed if you gave them the usual two weeks notice. Of course you'd need something else to fall back on.

In my experience, if a place needs you, they aren't gonna harass you if you give notice. But then I'm an outwardly nice person. Part of that is they don't want an office shooting.

So I talked with my manager and she had this other manager dude present too. He's not really my manager, but he likes me and tend to vouche for me in regards to stuff like this. It went fine once I explained things. She was like, "Everyone is telling me that you're saying uncomfortable things." And I told her yeah and admitted to all that Sataism stuff, but only because they keep coming at me with all this Atheism/religious stuff no matter how much I tell them otherwise or try to disregard that stuff. So if they take issue with things that I say, they have to cut out the stuff they say because it bugs me.

That seem to put things into perspective for her. She started rounding up the rest of them one by one after finishing with me.

Well, not really. This particular building is located dead in the middle of downtown. But it seems like a lot of the people they hire don't come from the best places.
