like he would spend hours/days if he got stuck in say a puzzle game or point and click adventure(i mean, what other games can you really get stuck in nowadays without a clear path forward? xd) and if he couldn't find the answer by himself, he would rather grind it out by trying every conceivable thing he can come up with and subsequently lose interest in the game altogether than look up the answer in a walkthrough.

just... why?

Makes sense to me. It's easy to feel like you didn't actually beat it on your own power if you had to look up the answer to a puzzle.

imagine spending money and playing a game you actually enjoy, then not be able to see it all the way through because of your own misplaced sense of righteousness just to beat something that probably comes down to bad design like all the brainfart logic in p&c adventure games.

What pisses me off is when you're playing an actually fun game and then the whole thing screeches to a halt and forces you to do some dumbass puzzle or find some dumbass hidden path.

I played Duke Nukem 64 (I believe that's the title) and got stuck in the first area after shooting only two monsters. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't know how to open doors in it.

And I didn't technically buy the game so I'm not eager to complete it.
