kind of in between, but more lotr, i think. But also it's own thing in a lot of ways, too. (I only have second hand GoT knowledge. I don't want to read it until he's done writing it, in large part because of Jordan not being able to finish WoT)

lol. I do want to read it. I just don't want to read 80% of it and be left wondering about the rest. If he dies before he finishes, I'll settle for the TV show, i guess. but I'd much rather read first and then watch.

Definitely closer to LotR. It has its genre subversions. But it isn't trying to be A Song of Ice and Fire with its brutal, realistic fantasy take.

Also WoT is squarely high-fantasy. Direct and frequent use of magic is a major piece of it.

It's so much better than either of those two. It's really its own thing. If you enjoy the fantasy genre at all you have to check it out. Stick it out it's very much worth your time.
