They turned their Ford Mustang, the only car they had (the rest are SUVs now) and a cultural icon into a fucking SUV. Not just an SUV, but an electric SUV, and they even dared to slap the Mach name on it (Mach to Mustang is like Stingray to Corvette).

These fuckers are so out of touch lmao

It looks more like they're releasing a separate vehicle alongside the Mustang with the same name. The Taurus X is an suv but the Taurus is a full size sedan.

It's not a problem if you think the next corvette could be called the "Chevy Blazer" or that the next Chevy Blazer could be called "Chevy Camaro". A nice plug-in hybrid minivan named camaro too, for example.

Few cars have the history of the Ford Mustang. It has always been a Pony Car, like the Camaro, Firebird and others. It's pretty much the opposite of a SUV (electric or not). They don't give a fuck about the brand.

They could have chosen to discontinue the mustang if it stopped selling too. But apparently it's still selling, and it's an iconic name. Why disrespect it like that? Call you new E-SUV the "Ford Socmom" or "Ford E-watt" or something....

It's a car, not the Lincoln Memorial. The toyota corolla is just as old as the mustang and has sold far more cars. The only reason you consider one of them "iconic" is that ford spent a lot more in marketing the mustang that way.

That "bad" Porsche SUV comes with a twin turbo engine putting out 550hp and one of the best AWD systems on the market.

A real mustang that happens to be electric would be pretty cool.

BMW has the I8, and porsche has the taycan. Sports cars can be electric, and you can also make big changes (e.g. the C8 vette becoming mid engined) while respecting the brand.
