It's supposed to be so bad. A farce of a game. Delivering shit from one place to another. A ridiculous story filled with thinly-veiled symbolism and politics. It's said to be nothing but a waste of time. The difficulty of the game is mostly bullshit. You're supposed to be stealthy but if you're not, it's really easy to fight the humans and run away from the ghosts, so I've decided it's not worth trying to be stealthy.

Yet I'm so into it. I'm over 20 hours in now, early in Episode 3. Essentially I'm still in the early goings. I don't want to stop playing though. Every night I'm like fuck, alright, I gotta turn this off and go to bed already. The time I spend playing it really flies by. I'm actually enjoying this gameplay. What's wrong with me?

I dont think Ive ever seen a game treated more unfairly by people because they didnt like someone involved with it, and a lot of complaints about it predictably come off as them not having played it before. The common walking simulator complaint I see completely disregards building stuff, vehicles, interacting and sharing constructions with other people, combat that gets more extensive as you play... Its not insanely complicated but theres a ton more shit to do than walk around.

The story also gets better. Its slow going at first but really starts backing itself up a few chapters past where youre at. It reminds me of a weird combination of Killer 7 and Stalker.

Is it really just easier to run from BTs? Stealthed my way through some but it did devolve into me moving faster and ultimately running away

That's how it seems to me at this point. If you get caught and then run away, they completely disappear from that area. I spend a lot longer creeping around them.

I still don't understand the walking simulator complaints. As soon as I hit chapter 3 (when the game opens up) I stole a truck from some mules and have been driving ever since. Even then, when I do have to walk it's fun because the terrain is actually varied enough that traversing it can be difficult depending on your load and the tools you have left.

Around chapter 5 or 6 was when I realized I was playing a masterpiece and that I had to platinum it. It's also around this time I became a zipline Chad and created a zipline network in the mountains where I could travel from any outpost on the western side within minutes. Conquering those mountains was probably the most satisfying I did in a video game. Over 50 hours in and still no rush to finish the story.
