Who thinks that? If you're not married by around 29, then people will probably call you weird, but not gay. If anything, if you live in a country where gay marriage is legal, you're probably more likely to be married if you're gay than straight.

Should we be normalizing not having a family/being married?

Fuck marriage. Its not for everyone. Neither is having kids. Theres enough dumbasses in the world already.

I'll be 34 this month, no wife, no kids. I have no problems getting women, but I'm not going to let myself get caught up and hastily get married or have a kid with someone I know I'm not going to be with because of compatibility issues.

I also refuse to settle. I see that a lot with my relatives and classmates my age, some of them are happy in their long term marriages while a lot of them are miserable.

I'm 35 and never been married.

People at work think I'm like a playboy or something because I can still go to concerts, bars, and travel whenever I want. Most of my coworkers are a little older, and have kids and families. So, they think not being married and having a fairly well paying job means playboy. It's funny because yeah, I go out to stuff still, but I mainly lay around my house.

The only grief I get is people insist I will settle down faster than I claim I will. And I'm like, privately, no.

And this. I'm 35, I have a post grad degree, and a nice job. Good pay and benefits. I have never been married or had kids, and I'm fairly happy on my own. I'm not just going to get married to get married or have kids to have them -- to fill some sort of existential hole or biological urge. I'm cool never marrying or having kids. I'm open to those options, but I do not NEED those things in my life.

Not having a partner is ok. Not settling down is ok. Not having children is ok. No matter what your age is.
