Im going with the bear myself. In my mind they have superior weapons, their massive claws.

They are extremely strong and intelligent. I could see them being smart enough to try and choke the bear. But grizzly bears are fucking brutal. A big cat will go for the throat and try to suffocate you. Big bears use their weight to hold you down and just start eating you, they dont care if youre still moving or screaming.

I went with a grizzly. Silverbacks are more than likely stronger and have more muscle mass, but I feel like a grizzly has a longer reach and those claws are damn lethal.

Grizzly bear is basically the size of a car. It will beat the Gorilla.

In that doc where they devise ways to test a grizzlies strength the bear holds up fair sized boulders like theyre papier-mch and rag dolls a giant several hundred pound dumpster like its nothing.

Also again theyre twice the size. Heck theyve found grizzlies over a half ton in weight.

I mean... look at that.

Sure, a bear is equipped with sharp claws/teeth, some good (running) speed and strength...

But a silverback is just a powerhouse of an animal... plus it's intelligence.

Could a bear beat a silverback? Sure, but more often than not, my money is on the silverback.

Gorilla has more agile movements and better hands for gripping. I could see that coming in handy just coz I feel a bear is somewhat limited in that sense

Gorillas are way stronger than Bears. Gorillas are pretty much pure muscle mass and are estimated to be at least 10-20 times stronger than humans whereas bears have the strength of about 6-7 men.

Bear would win cause size, claws, teeth....etc but Gorillas are insanely strong.

Gorillas are strong yes but a bear is just a natural predator. The teeth, the claws.....too much for a gorilla. The Romans used to put animals against animals in the coliseum, but I don't know if they had access to bears.

Yeah I guess if they have the same kinda strength to mass as a chimp theyd have to take the edge there after all.

Grizzlies are still damn strong though. I cant see it being enough of a difference vs an enraged bear twice its size.

Forgot about hippos and elephants, both could probably beat any species of bear yes. I'd imagine most rhino species could beat any bear as well.

As someone who spent 6 weeks in South Africa doing inventory on the Mala Mala game reserve, its incredible how much damage an elephant can do. Its a 15 mile drive in and the road is lined with downed trees that elephants took down. And a rhino can turn around in one step, blew my mind. They legit plant one of their front feet and kick out their hind legs and go for a full charge. They typically wont ram anything bigger than them so I never got rammed, but I did get charged while in a Hum V.
