In my time spent with assholes I've concluded that they mostly fall into two camps

1. Sociopaths, basically defective humans.
2. Not Sociopaths, but deeply tortured and actually have a profound lack of real love for themselves. They usually get stuck into a feedback loop because being an asshole is a common reaction to imagining yourself as a garbage tier person. This causes those surrounding them to reinforce the idea that they are garbage.

I would be fine with that but right now you have to be an asshole to deal with assholes.

I've always said that for every 10 good people, one bad person is all it takes to ruin it all.

What I despise most is how bad people with motivation will seek power and wealth like no other. They will go out of their way relentlessly to ensure they are at the top and stomp out anything in their way or that threatens their place at the top. These people maximize harm upon the general population at such extremes that I can't even begin to fathom why nothing bad happens to them, why the public won't do something about it.

Maybe I'm soft but this is partially why I sustain a living off of my own work and work remotely. I doubt it's soft, just having standards for my life. It provides a degree of separation from people that I would otherwise have to interact with. I want the people I interact with in my life to be that of my own choosing. I know from my own experience at least that every office/factory floor I've been on has had someone with really bad vibes just being a straight up asshole to everyone. They're almost always in some position above everyone else as well.
