I was in the school library (6th grade) and I caught a glimpse of it on the T.V. and thought it was part of a trailer for a movie. Got to my class and my teacher was in tears.

Grade 11 in class.

I was in a loading dock at work. Howard Stern broke the news oddly enough.

I was sitting in my 5th grade class. I live in New York so I was wondering why so many kids got to go home early. Then they canceled class for the day.

I'm on the west coast so I was sleeping before I went to my freshman year of HS. I remember my dad waking me up after the first tower was hit saying "WW3 is happening!" before I fell back asleep.

Sleeping after a long hard night of Final Fantasy VII (no kidding).

My sis was up getting ready for her community college classes.

Woke me up and said some stupid pilot hit a big building in NY.

I watched a few and then saw the second tower get hit.

The live stuff was crazy.

The reporter was talking with others with background video and then came the confused realization that the other building just got hit on live TV.

I was in 6th grade

i was in sixth grade at the book fair with my friend. it was the off hour and our english teacher let us go by ourselves to get a couple of things we missed on our day. we were the only kids there and the adults were watching things unfold on tv. when we got back to our class we told our teacher and she didnt believe us

In a waiting room for some kind of appointment, I think. The only clear memory I have is the TV was on and some kid shouted out "COOL!"

Pretty sure it started when I was asleep. I had a weird dream of people screaming and when I woke up for school it was on the news and I remember being like hey Idreamed this I think

It happened during my lunch at my job then. I got back and people were going off and one guy said it looked like Independence Day (the movie obviously) and I thought it was bs.

Then they put a tv in the break room and I took an extra break..... not quite Independence Day but I remember being shocked how close that statement was all the same.

Was just finishing gym class in ninth grade. Friend said a plane hit one of the towers. Rest of the day was a wash.

9th grade. Think it was around 10 am that I see my history teacher watching the news from the library and more people started joining her. Very surreal, very sad moments. The next days I woke up watching the news.

I remember.

Mainly because I randomly woke up an hour earlier than usual on that day, and also turned to a news channel, which is something that was also out of the norm for me at the time.

I mean, it's not like I did so in the midst of the attacks (it was already around 10:00-11:00 a.m. there), but it was only 4-5 a.m. here, so that weirded me out a bit.

Senior year of high school. Was in study hall watching the guy in front of me play Tetris on his game boy.

I remember laughing obv not because of what happened but because our prime minister in as insignificant a country as ours went on tv and told people they were tightening airport security in case of further attacks from what amounts to literal nowhere.

My classmate sarcastically remarked that he felt safer already after that statement

I think I remember seeing both towers fall live. Or maybe one had already fallen but I am pretty sure I saw at least the 2nd tower fall

I spent the entire day talking on the EverQuest.com forums with CNN on the tv

I was on vacation with my family at the outer banks

Everybody else there was on vacation also, checking out the lighthouses and resting at the beach.

We drove around the sand dunes from lighthouse to lighthouse with the radio on, and at all the lighthouses we saw people talking about the attack.

Same. Some 20 minutes from the site...crazy day. It just didn't seem real.

7th grade. We just watched the news the whole day. Then I think they had an assembly at the end of the day to try to explain things a little bit. Might have been the next day, can't remember for sure.

I remember I got up late that day and everyone was in the living room and when I walked in and asked what was up they said a plane had crashed into the twin towers. I remember saying "yeah sure" because I didn't think they were serious..

it was around five minutes later the second plane hit.
