Pretty sure i said last round that the first match would be close. I was wrong, oops. Valanga still pretty easily my least favourite of the colette set but not digging tiger today.

Hunter's Chance comfortably in my top 10 FF9 songs, Escape Again not in my top 10 crosscode songs.

I don't have particularly strong feelings for the zinnia theme arrangement, but I still didn't expect to vote this way.

First match is tough. My favorite KI track so far this contest against a DJ Totto track. I didn't expect to be voting KI this round, since I don't think I voted for it the previous rounds....

Interesting that both songs start off with cool ascending ideas. Escape Again is excellent, but unfortunately it's against a contender for "best track in the entire Final Fantasy series" in my book. (In truth, probably #2 behind The Extreme.) And after listening to "You're Not Alone!" again, I've decided that Hunter's Chance is my #1 in the game, for sure.

Zinnia is one of those Pokemon battle themes that I'm oddly attracted to, and the remix is probably as good as the original.

Fun music today!

Edit: I'm going to try to get Hunter's Chance into the next VGMC for the first time since VGMC1, but only if it wins its match today....

Escape Again is a lot more of my thing compared to the earlier CrossCode tracks we've had. Oh hey, this is the Final Fantasy track I've had stuck in my head. So that's what this is called! Semi-close match.

Once again the snubs match is the highlight of the day! This time I actually checked to make sure that this was the only snubs match today.

MATCH 1

The Tiger Warrior is an interesting song. The throat singing kind of vocals are a unique touch to this song. Like Mycro said, this definitely feels like you're fighting in some kind of dojo. Probably not my preferred style of Mick Gordon songs, but it's still pretty cool.

Valanga feels like standard rhythm game stuff, but it has a cool melody to it and piano inclusions are always welcome for me, so I can definitely say that I prefer this kind of music to The Tiger Warrior. Really neat song!

MATCH 2

Not much to say about either song here. Both songs, funny enough, feel like CrossCode to me. Something about Hunter's Chance gives me that feeling. Escape Again's what I'm feeling more. Not a big fan of Hunter's Chance's dissonant parts.

MATCH 3

Battle! (Zinnia) is something that honestly surprised me as being from a Pokemon game originally. As someone that only played the games up to gen 5, I was dumbfounded when I first heard this. 0:56-1:23 is just so good. I think I prefer the original slightly more, but this arrangement's still really good.

Wow, The Battle of Little Slugger is significantly better than the last Super Meat Boy song that showed up. Pretty cool battle theme that's fairly engaging to me, melodically.

Tiger Warrior is pretty cool. Valanga is great though. Very rhythm game. Very Totto.

I don't really like the style of CrossCode tracks in general, but this one is pretty good! Feels less, uh, weird? Hunter's Chance is real great though.

Zinnia has a real cool build to it. Slugger is super great other than being a little more repetitive than I'd like.

Wow this might be the first day where I quite like all six songs! Cool to have that finally happen.

Killer Instinct (2013) - The Tiger Warrior - 8/10

Definitely my favourite Killer Instinct song yet. That one instrument that plays in the background a bunch I really love especially. The throat singing not so much but I honestly also don't really feel like its much of a detriment either, the song is still really striking otherwise.

REFLEC BEAT colette - Valanga - 8/10

Not bad aaaa super fast rhythm game music, but honestly kinda generic aaaa super fast rhythm game music? 1:10 and onward is very very my thing though. I don't really want to like this one more but I can't help it.

CrossCode - Escape Again - 6.5/10

This is a nice song, very intruiging with how much it switches up the tone. In that same beat though, it makes it kinda hard to follow and in turn enjoy that much, personally. But it's still very nice at parts!

Final Fantasy IX - Hunter's Chance - 5/10

There are some nice and catchy parts of this but they're bookended by random chaos that's kinda annoying to me and a lot of just dark tones. Dissonance can be done well but I'm not feeling it here that much, though there are also some parts where it makes it rather interesting.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Battle! (Zinnia) - 10/10

HEEERE WE GO. Easily my favourite song of the main series, really emotional, powerful, and driving at the same time it kinda just hits all the bases. And this remix I'd say is about as good! There are some more dissonant parts but now there's GUITAR over the whole thing and man that really gives this a new great dynamic. Not much else to say (aside from the fact there is one kinda awkward part that could potentially pull this down to a 9.5 but still not sure) but I can't see myself voting against this like ever.

This is cool but honestly surprisingly...quiet-feeling for something I feel should hit a bit harder? The electric guitar just can't pull that much weight on it's own.
