Not really all that scary, its more psychological, the jumps are obvious when they're going to happen.

No, But theres a kind of statue of a giant turtle, they pretty much lied about Maturin being prominent.

The library is in it but theres no one in it besides Mike, who lives there now. The only Pennywise appearance there is when Henry comes to kill Mike and a book drops that shows a news article about Mikes parents and the headline says "2 crackheads killed in house fire". So subtle yes, and the scene ends rather quickly. Henry himself might as well have not been in the movie.

It changed a ton of scares from the 90's version.

a 6 or 7 out of 10 tbh. Nothing too special, not a horrible movie either.

For those who care

the list of scares, or at least those i can remember in enough detail

1. Kid stans talking head, turns into a spider
2. The nightmare sequence at the end, Bill relives that trailer scene where George says you lied and i died, Bev gets trapped in a stall with several people, including Jack from the shining(yes, i am not joking) trying to barge in, while blood fills
3. Richies library scene is changed to him wandering into the park with the giant woodcutter dude, he gets handed an invite to his own funeral by a random passerby, Pennywise appears on the shoulder of woodcutter dude and says he missed him, then screams at Richie to come back
4. The restaurant scene is back in
5. Henry plays with a balloon under his bed at the asylum, and right behind the balloon is Patricks decaying corpse, who then charges Henry
6. Bill yells at the storm drain where Georgie died to ask why it took him, after some time Pennywise replies "Because you weren't there", Adult Bill then falls for the same bullshit and reaches his hand into the sewers after an apparition of George appears, of course he nearly gets his arm ripped off
7. The trailer scene with Bev and the old lady. She morphs into a bigger deformed lady who chases Bev, then a long hallway with Pennywise without makeup(yes) saying she failed to change any of the losers futures.
8. Bens flashback in school, he's alone in class and Bev(whose shadow looks eerily like pennywise, it even scares Ben) appears next to him, sits, smokes, and very predictably(if you couldn't see this coming then you have no awareness what so ever) tells him she'll never love a fat boy like him and her face lights on fire as she chases him around the school, he hides in a locker and pennywise appears behind him and nearly kills him
9. Eddie hears his moms voice in the pharmacy begging for help, he goes to the basement, discovers his mom behind a curtain while the leper from the first movie is masked and makes its way towards her, Eddie leaves his mom behind(i think this is important for the ending to establish he leaves people behind when he's afraid), in the present, he opens the curtain, nothing there. He turns around and say it with me now.. theres the leper! Eddie however fights back and nearly chokes Pennywise to death, which is also apparently important to the ending.

Also Richie imitates Pennywise when they find their underground clubhouse, it scares the hell out of them and he even does the dance he did when he tried to kill Eddy

also the ritual of chud is in, but its heavily changed

and heavy spoilers

Pennywise exposes Mike for lying to the losers club, the ritual didn't work, Mike even willfully hid this information from them because he wanted them to believe in something, they understandably get very pissed at him.

Mike is also obviously fully functional when they go back in the sewers, Eddie is the one who nearly gets killed when Henry stabs him in the face. They all still make it to IT's lair though minus Stan of course

I saw some people online saying that there's subtext Eddie is gay too.

I was kinda wtf when I first read your post, but I can kiiiiiind of see it. Richie's thing in the book was that he used the voices and jazz because he didn't like himself which could be read as him being ashamed of being gay.

But then he did gangbang Bev. So maybe bisexual.

It doesn't necessarily prefer kids to adults. Kids are just easier to scare because their fears are usually concrete things: werewolves, parents, lepers, etc. Adults are more difficult because they tend to fear abstract things like losing your job, your kids getting sick, your car breaking down, etc. It's hard to shapeshift into an eviction notice.
