When somebody from a group that is usually the target of right wing attention does something bad they tune is:

Here is the person's manifesto. See? His ideology/religion/ethnic background is problematic. We must raise awareness that this is a problem! Here is a shitload of screenshots of his manifesto, and a link to the whole thing

But right now, when the shooter is a MAGA shooter? Here is their newest tune:

Guys!!! Let's not talk about the manifesto. Let's not discuss the shooter's motivations! This is what the shooter would want! What if this inspires others? Let's ignore the manifesto and motivations and talk about.. errrrr..... videogames/gun control instead

The opposition of the usual approach of 'we must expose the evils of this ideology and discuss that it is problematic" and the current 'let's sweep the shooter's ideology under the rug and not talk about it' approach is very cynical.

At the same time, now a lot of sites who do definitely have a liberal bias are preventing people from posting parts of the manifesto, so it is legitimately harder to discuss, when there hasn't been a major Islamic shooting in the US for two years I think, so it's not as easy to compare what would happen.

Although the US clearly has a lot of social issues right now to work on, there's a reason these recent shooters fit the same parameters with their home life and everything, kids being raised unrestricted by the internet and not looked at by friends and family, can lead to them finding these forums and wanting to remain part of the group they have found while escalating themselves further and further, until they see violence as a reasonable tool.

8chan where he posted was originally created so it's founder (who suffered from Brittle Bone disease among other things) could discuss eugenics and why people like him with severe medical problems should have never been born which was frequently banned by other sites, despite him just wanting more of a discussion on it, and he saw the further radicalization that went on there before he left the site, people like that clearly have their own issues, and have someone check them out is something that should definitely be done, and honestly I think that to a degree, shutting down asylums like we did was a mistake, and that we wouldn't be having these if they were just kept under watch.

Considering I'm a supporter of BLM, I'm not sure what your point is other than "people I disagree with must be racist"

I'm also a supporter (and engaged in) same-sex marriage, for universal health care, supporting Biden (though that's kinda starting to change to Gabbard), for gun control.

I basically oppose Republicans on every issue. Both sides my ass.

But I grew up in the Clinton era and it's hard for me to trust them, either, despite them being right on issues

Just want to point out that my irritation with the media comes more from their general softball-ass approach to any DNC scandal. Then they turn around and go HAM on Clinton in 2016, making her seem even worse than she already was, and now we have Trump.

So yeah, fuck the media. Also, FNC deserves to be shut down because it's legit propaganda.

This. I was watching CNN during the midterms last year and they were actually covering and analyzing the elections. I was satisfied with their coverage. I switched over to Fox News and it was just 5 people yelling over each other about immigrants and the only live coverage they had was just on a little bar at the bottom of the screen. It was annoying. I went back to CNN immediately.

bias shouldn't be used as a pejorative in this sense, anyway.

when there is a clear objective, anything counter productive to that objective is objectively wrong.

it's the media's responsibility to not be bias when reporting facts. unfortunately many platforms can't keep their personal feelings out of their reporting, but that doesn't make them wrong by default.

truth is only loyal to facts, and facts to truth. if your feelings are contrary to the truth, that's your problem. crying about inconvenient truths being reported just makes one look like emotional, irrational nutjobs.
