18 y/o Kaitlyn Rosensteel and Brendan McGowan were BOTH Killed after they were both struck by LIGHTNING during a storm as they were FISHING in a Pennsylvania Park!!

They died in Mammoth Prak Lake as witnesses heard a loud crackling noise and see a bright flash of light and the next thing they saw was a large splintered tree with Brendan and Kaitlyn lifeless beneath it

They had just graduated from Greensburg Central Catholic High School and Ringgold High School and were pronounced dead at the scene

They sat near a spillway on the park's lake when the lightning hit both of them as the injuries concluded to be "consistent with being struck by lightning"

MocGowan was a star at his baseball team and was sent to attend the University of Pittsburgh.

Rosensteel had just signed onto play for West Virginia Wesleyan's College soccer team.

Rob Fabean, the director of club administration said she was an absolutely great kid and model player for the team. He's coached her for most of her sporting life and his heart sank after hearing the news.

Brendan was a member of the national honour society and winner of multiple scholarships and awards

Their death came as a 3rd and 4th lightning strike related death has occurred this year as an average of 50 americans die from lighting strikes per year

I fish in that park a few times a year, not far at all from my house. Sad news.

People always accused me of thinking I was invincible when I was younger. Was quite the opposite really. I was well aware you could die at any moment and chose to live it up not caring when i died as long as I was having fun.
