By the time I got to the middle of Riku's story, I was tired of the combat and just spammed sleights.

It's actually kind of a shame how Axel turned into a different person by the start of KH2

^ ^ Not really that weird, gba Chain of Memories is better. When they made Re they should have just had the game have the same combat as KH 1 but they didn't, they stuck with the card gameplay which is so much worse on a 3d plane.

I actually liked CoM as a teen but definitely won't be able to stomach the card gameplay now, more power to those who can.

I decided to wait until KH3 was released before playing the series properly. Only played the original KH 1 when I was in HS and tried 1 scenario of BBS a few years ago.

I opted for beginner difficulty as there aren't any penalties other than an achievement or 2 (don't care).

I am enjoying the story so far.

I only played it for the gba and didnt mind the card combat much. But the unscripable cut scenes were torture.

I didnt hit many roadblocks but Lexene made me hate it all with a passion. Sitting through that 10min scene pre fight countless times before I finally figured out 0atk card weren't completely worthless.

It's been like 15 years and I barely remember how I played to win, but I do remember that for the final boss I basically spammed triple Simba and omni-slash Cloud, which made me kick ass all over the place.

Oh and the reason I actually liked this game was because you got to play as Riku, which I was absolutely psyched for and actually liked playing with a pre-selected deck for a change since it meant I just needed to focus on combat and turning into dark riku which was also cool.

Most games have secret endings you can't unlock on beginner. So keep that in mind for KH2 and onwards (besides 358/2).

I wish Square Enix had the balls to make more combat systems like CoM these days.

I did catch that. CoM is the exception to this thankfully.

Though, I'll just YT the secret endings probably. That's what I did after I beat KH1 the other day

CoM is so much more fun as Riku. The fact that you have set decks for every world and can't just spam out sleights nonstop like Sora makes it more engaging. Also, duels and dark form are awesome.

CoM has the best story in the series, but the gameplay is an acquired taste on the GBA and just straight ass in the remake. Even adding voices to the cutscenes kind of makes everything worse.

I'd say Days had the best story. But CoM is a close third after KH1.

Do the cutscenes for Days give enough of the plot or would I actually be better off playing the NDS game?
