"Toxic" and "let's unpack some things" are generally followed by somebody inserting their narrative into an otherwise fairly innoccuous statement. Also, everything is an attack now. Disagree with somebody else's idea (even indirectly), and you're attacking them. Fuck the 21st century.

To be fair, the rise of the internet has caused a lot of shitty behavior. People feel empowered to be incredibly shitty to complete strangers when there's no risk of getting punched in the face. Communities full of shitty people like that can be accurately described as "toxic" when any meaningful discourse is drowned out by a sea of garbage spewed by edgy children.

Human history is basically all arguing and fighting and the internet is just a new tool to do it with.
