I mean, that's always been the "Trump supports LGBT" argument. During the election people somehow thought he would go against decades of regressive policy pushing on the part of the republican party because he said he liked LGBT people a couple times and held a flag. Like, literally the most pathetic bone throws to people on the level of Hillary's shitshow of a campaign in the midwest, except it worked because people were somehow simple enough to consider that all they needed. Even after selecting a running mate that's literally a creepy mongoose-eyed weirdo who wants to electrocute the gay out of people

It says a lot that he can't even make it through this tweet without trying to turn it into a gimmick for his policies in the middle east and make up a nonexistent campaign to decriminalize homosexuality abroad.

I had a heated argument friend who told me Alex Jones is absolutely right about how manipulative the media. He agreed that Alex Jones is guilty of what he says he's fighting, but that doesn't change that he is right. I'm not gonna congratulate someone for talking out of both sides of their mouths. Even Hitler occasionally said decent things. I'm still not going to say that Hitler was right about X when he did Y that betrayed it.

Nobody agrees with what he said because what he said was a crock.

To be honest if it convinces even one staunch conservative to lighten their opinions on the lgbt I feel it was worth him saying. Im sure that wasnt his intention. More likely hoping to bolster votes for him but still. There will always be hate but there are also those who are complete sheep and so maybe just maybe some kid wont have it as hard when/if he/she comes out to their parents. One can hope anyways.

Words aren't meaningless. That's why Trump made this statement. He's trying to score points with the LGBT community despite making numerous attacks against it. He doesn't get credit for that, society gets the credit for progressing enough that he feels the need to make this sleazy, hypocritical bullshit tweet.

Step in the right direction though I wish to live to see the day when republicans are 100% cool with gays and whatnot. As it is a lot of otherwise conservative gays feel the need to vote Democrat just because thats currently who has their back.

Edit. Hell ive seen some admit to voting reoublican online and get attacked by the lgbt over it. Even when there was currently nothing about gay rights on the table. Like a local politician

The entire trans movement can't really score a win for itself when it has MtF Transpeople claiming to take records away from women. It can't really score a win when children as young as 4 are put into hormone therapy on a whim, and it can't score a win when the transition process costs more than most Transpeople will ever be able to afford

Trump doesn't like Transpeople. Many people don't. Theres members of the LGBT community that don't like Transpeople. The military ban is largely unjustified, agreed, but you're missing the point.

It's difficult for Transpeople to gain the support they need simply because of what they want to be. FtM want to be men. MtF want to be known and accepted as women. But for the most part, they're not, and part of the reason why this is the case is because of biology.

A MtF Transperson can't have babies, produce breast milk, have a period, and when they get older they won't go through menopause. Why should a MtF Transperson be accepted as female when she doesn't share any of the struggles of a woman in the first place?

A FtM Transperson doesn't have the ability to father children, but they are generally much better off than MtF because it's easier to blend in as a man. However, because Transpeople are losing their ability to create children by being Trans, they're unable to make a lasting dynasty of flesh and blood to spread their ideas and being a stable presence saying "I am here".

Instead they have to rely on an untrusting and cruel world that doesn't want them or want to acknowledge them outside of personal vanity.
