Just got 3 dance mats (1 for Wii, 2 for PS2) and I already have a copy of DDR Extreme for the PS2. It's got a tutorial and I think I could really get into this. I'm also trying to lose weight and this game has a workout mode, so it should work out pretty well for that. I don't know if I'll document my progress here, but I might.

Once you get used to the different types of step patterns, its pretty easy. Then its just a matter of stamina. I always played w the bar at the arcades, so i use a chair to hold while i play. Also, i would recommend getting some of those carpet nonslip pads as the dance pads slide when playing(even on the difficulty above beginner).

My floor's wood, not carpet.

Idk which kind of dance pad you have, but every one that ive used slide all over both carpet or hard wood floors. The nonslip pads fix that.

Maybe mine's different, but my dance pad hasn't slid yet. Will check out those pads if the pad starts sliding, though.

The biggest beginner mistake I see people make is thinking that you have to return your feet to the center between steps. Don't do that and you'll pick it up quickly.

How good are you at cardio? I understand they require some endurance to play.

Time is a funny thing. There is always too much of it, except when you need it the most. Then there is never enough.

Surprisingly doesn't take much. I never really trained cardio back when I was doing DDR and was still able to practice Maniac Afronova for an hour every day.
