I feel like it's not a good sign that I'm dying a lot in this first tutorial part. I know it's supposed to be a hard game, but I get the feeling that I'm going to be doing an awful lot of dying. Without spoiling anything, is there anything useful I should know as a beginner?

Ouch. After seeing some success against the first few generic enemies, I got my ass handed to me like 5 times by some random revenant with a spear. I liked it. Felt better than the dumb as nails enemies I've been facing so far.

That being said, there are some skills you can invest in that can make some things easier: Also, this is a big one i had to learn. This is not dark souls. Don't try to i-frame everything. Block is very strong in this game, especially if you are running heavy armour. ... Copied to Clipboard!
