They gave him a unsafe harness because they thought it'd be "impractical" for him to drop down to the ring and have to loosen his restraints. Just have him go down to the ring first. He gets the heroic intro and he takes off the restraints while the Godfather makes his entrance. Problem solved. Except why was he in a superhero costume anyway? Because he was being punished. And why was he being punished? Because he turned down a trash TV angle in which he would've been having a storyline affair with his real life friend's wife. He didn't want to explain to his son that he wasn't really cheating on the boy's mother. For that, Owen Hart's life was placed in danger. It just reminds me of that scene in To Kill a Mockingbird where Gregory Peck shakes his head while uttering the line, "This case should have never. even. come to trial." He shouldn't have been punished for not wanting to do an extramarital affair storyline. He shouldn't have been placed on the rafter. And they shouldn't have neglected safety because his opponent would've had a chance at taking a cheap shot. Did they think that Batman was a documentary? Did they think it's as simple as shooting a cable into the air or dropping down from one and you're ready to fight? Do they think parachutes are impractical? Maybe we should handle wars with steel cage matches.
