they can't legally give you a prison sentence until you're presented enough evidence to believe you're guilty? so theoretically you can just prolong a trial for the rest of your life as long as you keep pleading 'not guilty' . They obviously can't keep you in jail so you're free to continue working and going out as long as you don't leave the city. Even if you're under house arrest you can get everything delivered to you or have a friend help you.

They don't even take you to court for you to plead "not guilty" unless they believe they have sufficient evidence to convict you.

if you didn't commit the crime you can plead 'not guilty'. Sometimes you're in the wrong place in the wrong time. If you know you did nothing wrong then you're innocent even if evidence suggests otherwise.
