Red Dead Redemption 2 is a better single player

GTA Online was a far far better multiplayer experience though.

RDR2 is surprisingly more fun to explore. It seems way less limited as to what you might find when you go off the beatin path. GTA5 is obviously more fun to just cause chaos in tho.

The characters in RDR2 are better but the mission variety in GTA5 was better. As was the pacing. Even though both have gameplay pacing issues. They take a hit to make you feel more involved in a realish world. Ive grown to like it with RdR2 tho.

Yeah the mission variety and pacing puts GTAV on top for me. The moment to moment stuff was overall better for me even though I liked the plot in RDR2 better.

Hard to say

I think the actual missions in GTA V were better. But I feel like playing RDR2 a lot more because of the world and how much shit is packed into it.

It actually feels worthwhile to explore in RDR2 where as GTA V it always felt like they were trying to convince me to do it when there wasn't actually anything there.

RDR2 and it isn't even close

there's really no comparing something that's still in beta to something that's gotten 5 years of updated content

Yeah that's a good point. There actually is stuff to find in RDR2 when GTAV just has some shitty business side quest and the stranger missions. Hopefully GTAVI is a big improvement there.

I'm basing this on launch. In fact, I'd argue that GTA Online today sucks ass because it's become way too focused on griefers since they spend the most on shark cards.

GTA Online still had waaaaaaay more content than RD Online has. People really need to stop using the "beta" as an excuse as it's so obvious they only labeled it a beta so they could wipe peoples progress if another billions glitch comes out like with GTA Online.

IMO GTA V was the framework for Red Dead 2. Think about it, GTA V was based off that one GTA IV mission, and then RDR2 incorporated heists/robberies and took being a criminal to a whole new level. They even used GTA V's online to model RDR2's because of the huge cashflow they were getting from it.

I wonder if I would've liked RDR2 better if you could swap between some of the gang members. I think that would have fixed a lot of the pacing issues I had with the main plot. But then it would have been a different game I guess.

I really liked that mechanic in GTAV.

Another funny difference between the two of them was that GTAV felt like it suddenly ended. Meanwhile I spent the last 10 hours of RDR2 thinking "I'm just about done right?"

Grand Theft Auto V is the best open-world game from last gen, IMO, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is the best from this one

I love GTAV, but I felt that RDR2 improved upon it on almost every way.
