...the final battle was.

it had great action and visuals, but it went against what both Arthur and Orm were trying to accomplish.

Arthur helped kill shitload of Atlanteans before Meera was like, "bro, we've got to end this, a shitload of people have died", and his mission was to help unite both worlds, but didn't even try to preserve life from the jump

Orm started a civil war when he was trying to unite the armies so they could take out the land lovers. at least with the fish people, he only took out the king and some of his guard, but with the lobsters, a good chunk of their forces were being knocked off left and right before Orm even tried to talk to their leader

anyway, besides that, I liked it, for the most part, but some people were saying how it was a lot better than the MCU, but IMO, it's not as good as anything in phase two or three

Arthur helped kill shitload of Atlanteans

Orm's men. He saved a bunch of other Atlanteans who were resisting him. It's a civil war of Orm's making and Arthur was a net positive in preventing casualties.

I think the dumbest thing was that the only thing stopping Orm from wiping out the surface while Arthur did his whole hero's quest thing was a million year old piece of legislation.

Like, dude, your king, just do it already. It's like saying "No we can't have a war right now, King Charles II in 1256 decided nobody was to war the king!"

To be fair those ships aren't in space and Atanteans can breathe underwater right? So when he's using that giant ass Cthulu thing to destroy ships a lot could potentially survive that. He's removing the possibility of them killing crab people and isn't going out of his way to kill them as far as I remember.

I did like how he tried to protect people in Sicily.

I think that makes sense. He overall had the support of his people. If he goes against tradition he could lose it. This is the same city that sacrificed their Queen for having an affair.

Trench not withstanding, the traditions kept Atlantis and their people peaceful for millions of years. They're probably really good. Only when Orm decided to become an Ultranationalist did things start going wrong

That wasn't just it was it? I figured he needed ALL the forces of the ocean to challenge the surface and also he risked a counter-attack or interference if he entered a war without the backing of the other kingdoms.

Or am I making up head canon?

Yeah, he needed all the ocean forces. Remember that the surface world has nukes, aircrafts, bombers and the rest of the justice league defending them.
