I downloaded the demo and chose Therion, but he seems like some annoying emo character. But the worst part was when you broke in to the manor, and they acted like this was like a big sneaky feat but all you did was walk around and fight the fucking guards all loudly how is that sneaky? And then Therion mentioned they had some clever traps, what traps? Was it the guards?

This might've worked on a NES or SNES game story, but this is just bad and makes me not wanna get this game.

I thought Octopath was decent enough, but nothing amazing. And a big part of that was because the story was.... underwhelming. I do like certain elements of it, but most of the story is pretty generic. My favourite would probably be Olberic's, and even that's nothing revolutionary.

Still, I enjoyed the game as being a nod to an earlier era of JRPGs, and I loved the graphics and music. I'd say play through it because it's a decent game, but just don't expect a fantastic story.

I heard the music for it and thought I needed the game, but if the story and characters are this lame I'll maybe get it on a huge sale, it's 40% off atm but that's too low for that.

it's very generic and very same-y, to the point where every chapter unfolds the same way: town -> corridor dungeon -> boss -> repeat 31 times. primrose was the only even moderately interesting character/story, the other 7 are carved from the blandest imaginable character trope molds, not to mention that the characters barely interact with eachother nor have any impact on the world as a party

it's like they came up with an okay battle system and then everything else was an afterthought
