Eddie Huang Reveals the Cult-Like Culture at TED Conferences

To be clear, Eddie Huang was named a TED fellow. The conference is about a week or so of all day meetings, talks (including stuff like How to Network with Billionaires), and mingling. You're not supposed to leave the conference during this period, so as to maximize absorption of TED-everything 15 hours a day. Huang knew this, left anyway to do a podcast interview on one of the days, and he got booted from the conference.

As his interviewer comments, "What is it where...people just fuck up everything? Even something as amazing as TED."...

Pretty creepy...

Should the government step in to end scientology?

It already has been banned in certain countries.

We should probably end Ted TALK just in case.

I remember watching them all the time when they were new but cringe when I see them now. Every meaningful experience is distilled down to some guy/girl up on stage speaking like a professor reciting memorized words.

Also there's a high percentage of BS that makes for a better headline than to actually watch.

Pretty much. I still remember the first one I saw. It was about how SOPA was bad. It was before TED blew up and became this huge thing. TED is garbage now, and it sounds like they treat their speakers like cult slaves or at least the Asian ones like Eddie Huang.
