Airbnb in LA is gonna be someones guest house or unattached apartment on the property.

Ive done it a few times, always a good time but walking into the property is always awkward

there's an option to have the entire place to yourself.

meaning, you aren't like chilling in their place with them there, which i guess is the only way i'd do airbnb.

personally, i think its weird if a homeowner wants to be around.

a few months ago we rented a 3 bdrm, 2bath house for $900 in Vegas for 4 days. we split it 3 ways. it has 2 car garage, living room, kitchen, and jaccuzzi.

had a pool table as you entered. it was clean. we bought some chicken + beef and grilled during the day. drank and partied on the strip at night. never used the jaccuzzi but im sure it was clean as the rest of the house.

drove to grand canyon and back 2nd day while the others just grilled and chilled at the house.

I stayed in an AirBnB in West Hollywood not too long ago. I had a studio apartment to myself. The whole building was used for AirBnB it seemed like. I'm black and have used the site a lot for trips. I've never had any issues, however I've only gotten the whole apartment, never a guest bedroom or something where I have to interact with the host.

Cool. What's check in like? Is the owner there to meet you?

Airbnb is a huge risk for both the property owner and the person staying at the property because a lot of times with airbnb you're dealing with some really sketchy people who have zero integrity.

As a person renting the property, you have to be worried about what you just said. Flaky owners cancelling you at the last minute, the property being some sort of drug den or otherwise run down dump or part of some scam.

As a person owning property and opening it to airbnb, you have to deal with a lot of dregs of society looking for cheap accommodations. These people will trash your place, give you fake names, fake stories, skip out on payments, flee the country etc.

It's a risky business.

I've never met the owners anywhere I've stayed. They usually have key pad or lock box for entering the place that the give you the code for on the website.
