Being a SEAL isn't a secret. They have SEAL bars in San Diego, I've talked to them. Their operations are what's secret.

I don't know the classification of SEAL identities, but there are plenty of government positions where you as the employee can divulge your employment status to your heart's content, but it's a violation for someone else to divulge your employment status.

also if information is declassified (ie, retired seal's status) it can be shared publicly

declassification has a set date associated with it that depends on the information's significance.

it's also possible the retired seal committed a security violation by revealing his identity and role. which would prevent him from working with classified material in the future, something he's prob ok with.

I honestly don't understand the Obama deflection.

If you are pro-Trump and believe Obama was terrible. Shouldn't we expect Trump to be BETTER than Obama? Why are we dismissing his behavior because Obama did it, isn't Obama supposed to be bad lol?
