my advice, at least for the first game, is to always scan enemies and play into their weakness instead of just auto battling the entire time

FFXIII wasn't that bad imo. The story wasn't nearly as boring as XIIs. I actually was semi interested in it and the characters weren't all monotone and boring. Of course the gameplay is nowhere near as good as FFXIIs.

XIII is great. I had a lot of fun with it and 100%ed it twice. The battles were fun imo and the story was fine. Haven't played the others.
