I'm ~3 hours in? Just got off the first island and had my first ship battles.
- The skill tree stuff seems cool; I like that there are more options for combat.
- I like the dialogue choices

Hopefully those things help to avoid the issue I had with Origins, which is that all the quests felt very samey after a while

- I'm playing on exploration mode, which is pretty good about directing you to where you need to go, but I did just sail way past a location because it said it was an island but it looks more like a peninsula on the map.
- Menus are still garbage; why do they use a cursor?

Early on at least the missions have a good bit of variety to them, which I like. Giving me ways to go about stuff without just killing every soldier is cool.

The stuff about weakening a nation before you can take out the leader is cool, but it would be cooler if you didn't have to do all that stuff just to get to the required level anyways.

I'm looking forward to playing it, but I want to play through Origins first. I'm currently about 300 hours into RDR2, well past the end of the game, and am still finding new random encounters O_o

Update: okay yeah this game might actually rule? Like, I got into a story fight, and a mercenary came along, and I'm like, "ah shit, this isn't gonna go well for me." But he actually went after the enemies I had been fighting, took them out, and was weakened enough in the process that I could deal with him. Really cool seeing that sort of systemic gameplay here.

Also, once you get a couple skills, stealthing is super satisfying.

Yeah but once you get a lot of ability points it's annoying to respec all the time lol.

Also make sure you hit Level 70 before the January title update (I probably won't because I cleared the game while the cap was still 50) because you'll get 30 free ability points as part of the title update if you do.

Eh. I thought they were easy AF once you get Hero Strike, the shield breaker leveled up, and the ground slam ability.

There's no set date yet as far as I'm aware. It's whatever date Episode 2 of the DLC is releasing.

But like I beat basically everything when the cap was still 50 so I have nothing do easily get me to 70. The weekly quests only give me like 1/6th of the exp needed at any given level.
