I am not sure there will ever be anything that comes close to that again.

Every MGS game is amazing and full of radical ideas in addition to their own spin on existing trends that are often really interesting. Even poor old MGS4 has something to offer

MGS4 had really good gameplay mechanics, it's just that there was too much story to tell that they often took a backseat (or were totally disregarded in some areas)
