Its probably the most believably structured open world in any game, ever. Its a byzantine tower of hidden paths and connections. Like it is truly a marvel of game design and where the rest of the game is just really fucking good, its world design is truly in a league its own and will likely never be matched.

On top of that, it all works geographically. Like, you can look at a 3D model of the entire world and it is a single, winding, interconnected world on a crazy scale.

DS1 is one of like 5 games I would gladly partake in a Men in Black style Neurolyzer just to be able to replay it fresh.

How would you say it compares to Metroid Prime 1 and 2 as far as interconnecivity?

I always did like that about those games but never gave Dark Souls a try.

I agree TC. Dark Souls 1 has the best world design in gaming imo and for some reason they never attempted it again in following games and i havent seen another game do it.

They have mentioned that Sekiro will have a similar design to DS1, we shall see.

In not very good either and managed to beat them all and plat 3 and Bloodborne. Just sayin...

But yeah DS1 has the most memorable world in gaming to me. Blighttown, Anor Londo, Sen's Fortress, Undead Burg, Dark Root Forrest, Oolacile, etc. There is nothing like exploring and feeling like you are so far from home only to realize the shortcut you just discovered leads back to Firelink Shrine.

Discovering Ash Lake was probably one of the top 10 coolest feelings in any video game Ive played. God the music alone still gives me chills.
